Caddigan Auctioneers featured an amazing on-site estate auction held Saturday, August 23rd, 2014 in the Historic Village of Paris Hill, South Paris, Maine. The Cummings/Ingraham family’s collection of Americana was offered and featured an expansive selection of early American gems. Leading the way were be several folk art portraits: the finest being an 1823 child’s image of Marcia Ingraham, attributed to John Brewster Jr. and picturing an angelic faced young girl in a white dress, holding a single flower. The wonderful painting brought a tremendous $413,000 including the premium! A very fine assortment of 18th and 19th C. furniture included a rare Chippendale serpentine four drawer chest with its original cabinet maker’s label from the workshop of John Forster, Charlestown, MA, and brought  nearly $27,000 (with premium). A  rare inlaid mahogany Federal tall clock with a dial signed William Crane, Stoughton brought $31,860 (with premium). A large offering of fresh estate Oriental carpets were  included along with a fine array of silver, fine china and export porcelains. A strong collection of earthen ware and flo blu was available. Many fine accessories included formal pieces and plenty of primitive and folk art lots. This was a very well attended and  an impressive sale with something for everyone.
